Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These terms govern your use of the Statlete website and mobile app (together, the "Service"), operated by Statlete ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the Service with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the security of your account and for everything that happens under it. Give us accurate information, keep it current, and tell us promptly if you think your account has been compromised.

Your display name is visible to other players. Do not pick one that impersonates someone else, or that is obscene, harassing, or unlawful. We may reset or remove a display name that breaks this rule.

4. Fair play

You agree not to:

  • Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to play or to submit answers.
  • Exploit a bug, or manipulate scores, streaks, or leaderboards by any means we did not intend.
  • Operate multiple accounts to gain a leaderboard advantage.
  • Publish or distribute the current day's questions or answers before the set closes.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract our question database.
  • Interfere with the Service or attempt to gain unauthorised access to it.

We may suspend or terminate accounts, and adjust or remove scores, where we reasonably believe these rules have been broken.

5. Our content

The questions, answers, editorial copy, design, and software that make up the Service belong to us or our licensors, and are protected by copyright and other laws. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial enjoyment. Nothing else is granted.

Statlete is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any sports league, team, or player. Names, statistics, and events are referenced for the purpose of trivia and commentary.

6. Questions, scoring, and mistakes

We write the questions by hand and we try hard to get them right. Occasionally we will not. We may correct a question, void it, or adjust affected scores after a set has gone live. Scores, ranks, and streaks are provided as-is and we do not guarantee their accuracy or continued availability.

7. Price and changes

TODO: confirm the pricing model and expand this section if the Service ever includes purchases or subscriptions.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service. If a change is material, we will give you reasonable notice where we can.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, or if we need to for legal or security reasons. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will do so.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that a new set will be available on any particular day.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising out of your use of the Service.

11. Apple

If you obtained the app through the App Store, you acknowledge that these terms are between you and us only, not Apple, and that Apple has no responsibility for the app or its content. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.

12. Governing law

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will update the effective date above and notify you before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new terms.
